About Our Founder
Founded by Vicky Valdez, The Lone Star Foundation works with local businesses throughout the nation to extend a hand of support in reaching the next step. From new beginnings to established small businesses, we provide small grants, tool and resources to help businesses achieve their next step.
Vicky Valdez has a wealth of experience in economic development, small business development and finance. For ten years she managed the City of Austin’s Small Business Program (SBP), helping current and aspiring entrepreneurs realize their dreams and existing small business owners expand and develop their businesses. From developing and managing nationally-recognized programs that provide local business owners with education, strategic planning, marketing, financial management, business expansion, new markets and procurement opportunities to teaching and coaching, Vicky's experience and insight led her to create the Lone Star Foundation.
Current projects and partners include the Local Business Institute and the American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA).
